History

Responding to an industry need to provide professional, cost efficient and highly effective private 9-1-1 and burglar/alarm dispatch services, NORCOMM was established in 1994. We were the first company to offer private emergency dispatch services in the state of Illinois. 

Much has changed in the world since NORCOMM first opened its doors more than 25+ years ago, but there is one thing that has not; our enduring commitment to providing an unmatched level of quality police, fire and emergency medical dispatching services to cities, towns and fire protection districts. NORCOMM also offers outstanding burglar and alarm monitoring services and equipment installation.

Here are just some of the highlights of how NORCOMM has grown over the years to serve our customers.

2005: Began providing 9-1-1 dispatching services for the communities of Bellwood, Melrose Park and the Beach Park Fire Protection District. 

2008: Joins Loyola University Medical System as Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) providers.

2009: Superior Ambulance celebrates 50 years in business!

2010: Becomes certified as part of the IL-TERT (Illinois-Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce).

2011: Adds the Stone Park Police Department to our already existing dispatching services being provided to the Stone Park Fire Department.

2012: Consolidates the Village of Franklin Park’s 9-1-1 Dispatch Center into the 9-1-1 NORCOMM facility.

2015: Text to 9-1-1 services begin.

2017: Partners with client agencies to form the consolidated Joint 9-1-1 Authority known as the Proviso-Leyden Joint 9-1-1 Authority and also serves as the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) of the Authority.  Also, this year, the Village of River Grove’s 9-1-1 Dispatch Center is consolidated into the NORCOMM facility.      

2020: 9-1-1 dispatching for the Village of Rosemont begins.

2021: Starts 9-1-1 dispatch services for the Village of Elmwood Park.
